The Venue!

You guys...the venue has been chosen!

Well, at least informally. The contract is being drawn up and sent to me to be signed soon. But we have our date locked in, so...it should be all good.

This is where our reception will be. The actual ceremony will be at a nearby park.

The Lodge At Leathem Smith

What really sold me was that it was basically all inclusive- staff, bar staff, tables/linens, catering, lodging, atmosphere, planner/coordinator...really almost everything. Plus, everything is personalized. The menu is not a "Choose option A, B, or C". They will tailor it based upon your tastes and budget. Excited to work with the staff there on our special day!

Speaking of the special day- the theme shall be....

VINTAGE FALL FUN!

Everything fall colors- yellow, red, orange...and some other colors thrown into the mix. We plan on incorporating leaves and other autumn-y things too. Maybe apple cider! Mmmmmm.

Fun- there will be lots of fun and games at our wedding. Board games, card games, outdoor games, maybe even kickball? Who knows?!?! So, if you are at this wedding, please bring your game face and a playful attitude!

Vintage- Lots of vintage flair. We've already started collecting various old postcards and old comic books for decoration/centerpieces.

After getting our contract signed and our deposit put in, I think the next big steps will be: Deciding on a menu and....*gasp* a wedding dress?!?!?!

I don't even know where to start on this whole wedding dress thing. I am so indecisive!

Anyway- that's it for now!

Ciao!

Setting A Date

The Date Is Set!

I think the biggest decision (after the decision to get married, of course) was picking the date. It seemed like I could get nothing else done until that date was set. And it came about a lot easier than I thought it would. So far, I haven't gotten any complaints. Even my friends/family who are teachers haven't protested and we all know how busy September is for teachers.

We knew we wanted a fall wedding. We knew this from the time we started talking about marriage last summer. We also knew that there was NO WAY we could be ready for Fall 2013. Too much to plan, too much to do, too much going on to transition from where we are now to where we want to be. So- it was decided that it would be sometime during Fall 2014.

And then we remembered- Ben will turn 30 in October 2014. So that narrowed it down even more. September 2014 it is! Ben made that quick decision because apparently it is a "goal" to be married before you are 30. Therefore, we have to do it before he turns 30 a few weeks later. Maybe I don't understand because I am 24...but really...I don't understand. Seems like a silly goal. It makes me giggle. But, it is important to Ben, so that's how we will do it!

Now, we thought we might wait until we had a venue before deciding our exact date, but Ben was talking to one of his buddies who we want in the wedding party who said that his brother is getting married around the same time as us. So, we asked when that wedding was going to be and that left us with our final date choice- September 20!

Ben was very cute when we finally settled on the date- "Did we just make a decision?" Yes, yes we did. :) One of many decisions we will make together from now until...forever.

Tomorrow we celebrate our 2 year anniversary. Exciting stuff! It is so fascinating, I feel like I have known him and been with him for SO LONG, yet when I think back on it, 2 years doesn't seem that long ago. We will spend time together when he comes to Madison this weekend (in between me working my second job, of course.)

Stay tuned for more wedding details and other such fun.
